What are the causes of loss of sight?
There are many causes leading to loss of sight. From an accident to wearing contact lenses, they can all contribute to someone losing his or her sight. Most often the causes are related to eye diseases that usually occur later on in life, like diabetes. However, also infections (as a result of improperly cleaned contact lenses among other things) can lead to loss of sight. The human eye is very delicate, so good hygiene is very important when dealing with the eyes.
What is the best way for me to deal with the blind or partially sighted?
Not everyone knows how to deal with blind or partially sighted people. Of course it takes a lot of time and patience. You must be well motivated to help others. Although some blind people may be more or less independent, they will still need someone to guide and help them. They are taught how to be independent in certain ways; however, they will always have to rely on others. So when you enter or leave a room you should always tell them. When you hand over something to a blind person always tell him or her that you are doing so. When you are about to enter a room in the company of a blind or visually impaired person always say so. Try to always explain where everything is and what you are doing at that moment. For more tips click on advice.
